Raghuveer Chaudhari, a novelist, poet and critic and a prominent figure on the contemporary Gujarati literary scene was born in 1938 in Bapupura near Mansa in North Gujarat. He did his M.A. in Hindi language and literature from Gujarat University in 1962 and later obtained his Ph.D. from the same University in 1979.
Raghuveer Chaudhari has worked for adult-education in his village and also constructed a small library and a theatre for his school there. During vacations he used to work with social workers and later was active in 'NavanirrnanAndolan' - an anti-corruption movement - against the State Government of Gujarat. Born and brought up in a strong religious family of farmers and his acquaintance with some devoted Gandhian friends nourished deep sense of a social responsibility in him. This is the reason why his concept of modernism is different from those of his contemporaries.
Raghuveer's talent was nurtured by the prose writings of GovardhanramTripathi, Kaka Kalelkar, Suresh Joshi, Niranjan Bhagat and PriyakantManiyar. He owes his early training to his friend Bholabhai Patel, a well-known scholar in Gujarati. Later Raghuveer developed an interest in Hindi and Sanskrit studies. Prof. Ramdarash Mishra and Prof. G. N. Dickey were among those who led him to cultivate an abiding interest in this field. Kalidasa, Rabindranath Tagore and T.S. Eliot have been Raghuveer's favourite writers. Dr. HarivallabhBhayani,.a profound scholar and a specialist in historical linguistics has also been a continuing influence on him.
Raghuveer's poetry is particularly remarkable for its profundity of thought and the meaningful use of images and symbols. Though poetry writing has remained his first love, the form he has consistently explored, is the novel. Most of his novels are rewritten at one stage or the other. His faith in the functional aspect of human life has progressively strengthened. It is voiced through Amrita, VenuVatsalaand Uparvastrilogy. His style of writing has also attained maturity and depth instead of repartee and satire abound in his earlier works. RudraMahaZayais a landmark in Gujarati historical novel writing. Through this novel the writer affirms the need for self- realization for creating a work of art.
Raghuveer's well-known short stories, PurnSatya(Complete Truth), Chitra(Fire), Pakshaghat(Paralysis), Ud Gaye Fulwa Rah Bas (The Fragrance Remains, the Flowers are Flown) reflect his concern for the present man.
Among his plays, Dim Light is a successful street play. ZulataMinara(The Shaking Towers) is a remarkable effort at depicting the scenes of relatedness of the past and present. In his collection of character sketches SaharaniBhavyat(The Grandeur of Sahara) he attempts the portrayals of various creative personalities of Gujarat. In his essays on literary writings, there is a combination of the microscopic observations concerning the art of creative writing and a vivid presentation of the thought content. His style of writing tinged with creativity, adds to the readability of these essays.
Raghuveer is a man of co-existence, but he knows that co-existence is impossible without inner life. It has been a continuous search of Raghuveer's life and literature to attain a realistic ground for human dignity, which would strengthen the faith in humanity by way of attaining a deeper understanding of life through combining truth and beauty. He believes in a democracy acknowledging the basic freedom of a human being and at the same time tries to prepare a mental ground for the development of a humanitarian society.
Raghuveer's literary works have received a wide response. He was honoured with the SahityaAkaderni Award for his novel Uparvasin 1977. He has won numerous pQzes awarded annually by the Gujarat State during 1965 to 1970, the Kumar Medal for poems in 1965, Uma- Sneharashmi prize and Ranjeetram Gold Medal for creative writing in 1975. Uttar Pradesh Hindi Sansthan awarded him with Sauhard Sanman in 1990 for his contribution to the Hindi language and literature. He received Abhivadan Trust Award and Anart award also.
RaghuveerChaudhuri has also been active as a popular columnist, and has contributed to numerous dailies as well as weeklies, including, Sandesh, lanmabhoomiand Nirikshaka. He has been associated with various literary organizations and is at present the Trustee of the Gujarati SahityaParishad.
After his retirement, Raghuveer spends his time in his native village actively involved in his literary/creative work.

Grambharti Amrapur Trust had been registered on March 19th 1958, and the Basic Secondary School in that Chhatralaya of Pratapnagar started in the same year on 16th June. In this way, in North Gujarat, the Institution of Navi Talim and total village service commenced. The institution has kept the objective of expanding the Sarvoday (good of all) life through all-round education and other constructive activities. In order to fulfill that objective, the programme has been earmarked in the constitution, which included the activities like establishing and managing educational schools of various levels for life oriented education directed by Mahatma Gandhiji and supporting to Indian culture, managing the workshops of Adult Education for the people and women education as well as agriculture and animal husbandry. Thus, along with the little facility but unique zeal, the stages of education have been humming with melodious group of life. There were 32 students totally in std. 6 to 9 and 6 teachers and the same 6 gruhpatis. Pratapnagar was humming with the enthusiastic environment of beauty and education, community living for 24 hours and self-reliant life.
In 1958, education commenced with "Gram Shala" the Basic Secondary School. The primary school of district panchayat started since 1960 in the compound of the institution. During 1963-64 Gramshala has been transferred into post basic school. Upto 1970 there was co-education. In 1971, an independent girls' school was started from the view point of women education. The main craft in both the schools is agriculture and cattle breeding. Over and above all the academic subjects are there. 'Social reconstruction' is in place of 'Social studies'. Std. 11-12 was started of Higher Post Basic agriculture stream in Gramshala in 1976. The vocational stream of home science was started in girls' school in 1982. Gramseva Mahavidhyalay was started of graduation level in 1986. It got the affiliation with North Gujarat University in 1998.
The main craft in the gramshala and the kanya vidyalay of the institution is agriculture. The 60% of the subjects are agriculture and cattle-breeding oriented and the principal subject is agriculture in Gramseva Mahavidyalay. Half an hour to quarter and one hour period is allotted to the craft work in the daily timetable of all the three schools for the direct training and experience of agriculture craft. According to advance planning all the students reach at the assigned tasks of their team with necessary tools and instruments for the craft. During this period, they perform their works of vegetable plots and necessary tasks in agricultural crops. The teachers of the schools give the necessary guidance to them by joining the student's teams.
The students participate according to the guidance of the subject-teacher in experiments, practical work, trials and demonstrations related to their curriculum over and above their daily craft work. They keep the full notes about their observations, analysis, interpretations and results.
The student of the college has not to pay the tuition fee according to Government rules. In exchange to that the student has to perform the productive labour work of 250 hours during the year in the sections like agriculture, gaushala, gardening, forestry construction, etc. of the institution. This labour management is also arranged by previous planning and as far as possible from the educational point of view.
Self-reliance in cloth is the basic thought of the institution. It is an easily available symbol of the unity with labour and labourers. Many processes starting from grow cotton to the sewing of clothes are included in it. The farming of cotton has been undertaken since its beginning. Various activities regarding its various types and seed productions also have been carried out.
The place of rural industry is unique from the point of view of art and craft as well as cultivating life at the leisure time. The village industry in institution had provided much nourishment to the institution. The surrounding people are benefitted. Students of the institution had attained education. Village industries likeOil-mill industry, Hand-pounding industry, Fiber Industry, Clay Industry, Industry of sand-pebbles, Leather Industry, Industry of Carpentry and Blacksmiths etc over and above khadi are example of sustainability and self-reliance at campus.
There is much importance of co-operative activities in society as well as in education. There is a noble competency of friendly relations of the individual and the society and democratic values in the co-operative life-style which is free from the defects of materialism and communism. Along with the basic education in the surrounding area, the institution had started the co-operative societies and it is necessary to be acquainted with it. Moreover student services co-operative society is functioned by the institution in order to give the direct-experience to the students regarding the objectives, of this activity rules, method, purchase-sell, common general meeting, executive, president secretary, agenda, etc. The idea of all these societies is given below in brief.
In the field of publicity of the Gandhian Thought and activities of sarvoday mandal, the institution has an important contribution. Gandhi, Sarvoday and humanity all the three are the equivalent of one another. The goals of Grambharti and Sarvoday mandal are same and supplementary to each other. The institution has been established with the commitment of Gandhian values. It brings up the Gandhian thought through practical life, living contact and propaganda of literature. The institution worked for Gandhian thought and sarvoday before its establishment and now also it works for the same.
Grambharti Amrapur Trust had been registered on March 19th 1958, and the Basic Secondary School in that Chhatralaya of Pratapnagar started in the same year on 16th June. In this way, in North Gujarat, the Institution of Navi Talim and total village service commenced.
The independent building of the primary school was ready with the help of Sardar Smarak Trust and the Government. It was used as a School-Chhatralaya. On Diwali 1960, the old senior member of Sevadal Amrubhai Tilwala brought Shri Peer Opliger of Switzerland to the institution. He discussed about the work with the teachers and organizers. He liked the dream of the institution. Therefore, the amount of Rs. 50,000/- of Swiss-aid was confirmed. The secretary Snelman visited the institution for the aid. He helped us with the big amount Rs. 1,93,000/-.The tractor and other tools of agriculture, the building of High School was made from this amount. He also had given necessary extra amount for gaushala for being independent and being abide by the self-help principle.
The institution became self-supporting with the pious help of Switzerland. After Swiss aid, many institutions of Gujarat had helped for various works.Mr. Opliger from Australia offered Rs.20,000/- and on getting the remaining amount from Social Welfare Department, a building for Chhatralay, having all the facilities and the accommodation for 80 students was constructed. The same institution gave the help of 3,000 for the pipe-line of Piyat Association of Amrapur village. A building for Girl's Chhatralay was ready with the help of District Development Association, Local Board and Sayaji Trust. Water tank was built. The buildings for co-operative societies and khadi gramodyog board were ready. The facility of electricity was achieved. The transport and communication became easy. The higher school of Std. VIII to XI could be started till 1965. In 1963, the Std. V, VI & VII were handed over to district panchayat. During these seven years, the atmosphere was hummed with the activity of prohibition, Gandhighar planning, co-operative societies, khadi gramodyog and various work-shops. The institution became an attractive visiting place due to the development and novelty. From the local name Unchi Pempali the institution became famous as Grambharti, Amarapur. From June 14th 1971, an independent girl's school was started from the point of view of girls' education. Its higher secondary department was commenced by 1982. Along with that the sewing class and the condensed course for S.S.C. Examination were started. In 1992, the recognized Chhatralay for Baxi Panch was achieved through Social Welfare Department. Since 1986, the higher step of Education Gramseva Mahavidhyalay has been started. At its inauguration function the most renowned litterateurUma Shankar Joshi and Manubhai Pancholi remained present along with the Chief Minister Amarsingh Chaudhri.
The way of Social Up-liftment through education, remain in village itself. Education is incomplete without the knowledge expansion and constructive works. How can citizenship be enraged without living community life? It was disabled without cattle breeding and agriculture, which is nourishing to the soul of the people. All-round education is necessary.
The Education - complexes at Vedachhi, Bochasan, Gundi, Ambala and Sanosara paved the way. It was felt that the All-round Service Centerd Asharam and Basic Education should be there even in Mehsana. The question was to attain the courage. Motibhai and his friends were struggling for that.
The main activity of the institution is Education. It has pondered over it a lot in planning the activities related to education and in understanding the nature of it. Education from primary stage to graduation is going on in the institution.
In all the academic sections some activities are the same. Some are special, some are on co-operative base. The physical facilities, the staff, results and special activities are different. The information is presented in each section. The various activities organized through school panchayat or students' Association gives the education for citizenship, democracy, responsibility and leadership through group life. It is there in almost all the sections / school. The elements of Nai Talim are filled abundantly in all these activities. They are evaluated yearly.
The Key vision of our school is to motivate enthusiastic noble and committed youths for Rural leadership & Rural Reconstruction.
The basic education which is always new can't have any limitation or deficiencies. Its implementation should always be done with educational view-point. The tradition set from the beginning till today might experience some limitations or deficiencies. The limitation of the Nai Talim that goes on today is that individual attention has not been paid about the all- round development of students. Educational view-point and joy should be attained in both activities and labour. There should be family relationship between the teacher and students, which is very difficult in today's job-orientedness. The importance of labour is not understood as it should be. Many a time, it becomes drudgery. Sometimes activities are done merely as a show. Many a time's only literacy gets much undue importance and values of characterization become subsidiary, but it is only in the Nai Talim that there is possibility of all such improvement. By improving and increasing it, nation and humanity are going to be brought up.
Our mission is to strengthen students, through providing them with proper guidance and meticulous practice which enables our students to realize their dreams and contribute to the progress of the nation by GandhianPhilosophy.
